The Birks Cinema is an ambitious outward-looking community enterprise in the heart of Aberfeldy in rural Perthshire. A world class independent cinema programme will always be at the heart of what the building offers to its community and visitors. The cinema incorporates a café split over two levels that offers cinema snacks, refreshments, lunch and evening snacks. Our additional focus is to improve the lives and well being of the community we serve by providing a social hub and space for local groups to run activities.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a coffee shop or similar environment but the main criteria is that the successful applicant must be enthusiastic and committed to providing excellent customer service. We also welcome people who are passionate about food and films and willing to contribute ideas. This role would suit a person with a flexible approach and a cheerful ‘can-do’ attitude.
Customer Experience Assistants play a vital role in the day-to-day front facing services of the organisation, serving customers food and beverages from the café, selling tickets for films and events and ushering our cinema audiences.
Responsibilities
You’ll work closely with Duty Managers and report to the Café Bar Manager. Your day-to-day duties will include:
Selling tickets for a wide range of films, food and beverage at our till counter
Taking orders and serving food and beverages in a busy cafe environment
Brewing up tea and coffee items
Food preparation and light cooking duties
Ushering cinema customers
Ensure that a high standard of cleanliness is maintained
Always provide excellent customer service
Co-operate and communicate effectively with colleagues
Maintaining a safe environment for our customers and staff
We’re open 7 days a week, so mornings, evenings and weekend work is required.
Qualities

Adopts a flexible, adaptable approach to tasks and relationships
Values and respects input from colleagues, actively seeking feedback
A team player who stays calm under pressure
Ideally, you would have some previous hospitality experience
Be cheerful and willing to work hard as part of a team.
An interest in films and live events would be advantageous.
